I built a thing. PolitiHole.

It’s difficult to say, really, when civilisation started to collapse.

Was it the Covid 19 pandemic in 2019/2020? Was it the 2016 US election? Or perhaps the Iraq war in 2001/2? Or even the mass deregulation of, frankly, everything by Reagan / Thatcher in the 80’s?

Who knows. All I know is, everything is currently batshit crazy and it’s just compounded further by social media, far-right/left grifters and, honestly, AI.

Everywhere I look online, I see division, arguments, and misinformation being thrown around. Nobody seems to even bother fact checking anymore. Especially when it comes to politics. Suddenly, everyone is an expert and people are willing to die on hills they’d never even heard about 12 months ago. Utter madness.

So, I wanted to try to do something about it. This isn’t original, it’s not particularly groundbreaking in any sense, but it does what I want it to do.

Enter PolitiHole.

Because politics is an absolute hole.

https://politihole.uk

So, what is it?

Simple, really. PolitiHole takes all major party manifesto’s and any other verifiable, published document covering proposed policy, analyses it all and groups it all by impact across 12 core categories.

Visitors to PolitiHole can fill out a short survey takes less than 3 minutes and NOTHING is stored, saved or collected by the application. Everything stays 100% private in your browser session.

Once you’ve filled out the survey, a cunning algorithm (that I’m fairly proud of) then runs your profile against all party policies and shows you a fact-only-based summary of which party is likely to have a positive or negative impact on your unique situation.

You can answer some optional questions on personal values, too, to provide further insight if you’d like. Again, it’s just 10 questions and, again, we never store any of your data, personal or otherwise. Those answers will then provide more detailed information on party policy impact.

It covers all major UK parties, including those only operating in NI, Scotland, and Wales, so you can use the tool if you live in those areas, too.

There is no bias. All the data is pulled directly from each party’s manifesto and policy documents. I couldn’t bias it, even if I wanted to, as even slightly weighting things differently throws the whole thing into chaos. It’s a finely tuned analysis machine. You can see all of the data we collected for each party on the site, too. And we will be updating it regularly with more data and, where needed, more categories.

So, there we go. Nothing groundbreaking, but hopefully something people might find useful. Even if it’s just to fact check claims made online against reality.

Any feedback, suggestions, ridicule or comments of any other sort, please aim them at me via LinkedIn (preferred) or via the comments below.
